Division of Social Work

The specific goals of the Baccalaureate Program are:

  • To develop the student's knowledge of social work practice including the purpose, focus, objectives, history, knowledge, values, ethical code, and fundamental skills of the profession in order to prepare the student for direct service general practice in a variety of settings. This is the primary goal of the Program.

  • To promote an expanded view of the environment through which students can study the reciprocal effects of systems interactions and transactions, including the influence of social attitudes and political priorities in a multiracial and multiethnic society.

  • To assist students in developing a professional identity with an awareness of:
    • the unique qualities of the professional social work relationship;
    • the broad range of career options and possibilities available to individuals with BA in Social Work degrees;
