About the Master of Public Health

Apply Now!

The MPH program has a well-defined set of goals that will guide the direction of every student's interdisciplinary plan of study. Our primary goal is to create and nurture an environment conducive to interdisciplinary public health initiatives, with special emphasis on vulnerable populations who suffer disproportionately from illness and disability.

To this end, you will enjoy a course of study that will introduce you to the latest theories and best practices in such areas as disease surveillance, needs assessments, and program evaluation. Careful faculty advising will be a critical part of your success, as you determine which areas of public health interest you most, and work toward a final semester's worth of innovative and rigorous research on critical public health issues.

Candidates are likely to have a wide variety of backgrounds and training. We anticipate that some candidates for admission will be working as public health professionals, or have done so in the past, but such work experience is by no means required. Full instructions for application, as well as all necessary forms for application to the MPH program and to the Graduate School, are available at pubh.memphis.edu.

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at the University of Memphis is now inviting applications for admission on a full or part-time basis. All classes are held in the evening to accommodate working professionals.

Deadline dates for applications to the MPH program are: November 1 (for spring semester) and April 1 (for fall semester)

A limited number of graduate assistantships are available to full time students. These are highly competitive. Graduate assistants receive a tuition waiver and a monthly stipend, for which they work 20 hours per week on a public health research project. The graduate assistantship is given for one academic year and may be renewed for a second year of study.

There are three steps: 1. Complete Graduate School on-line application. 2. Print and send MPH program application. 3. Print 3 reference forms for completion.
