Dr. Linda Bennett - Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research

The Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research has responsibility for overseeing the development of the graduate curriculum, the professional development assignment program and College research programs. She chairs the College's Council for Research and Graduate Studies and oversees allocation of professional development assignments, New Faculty Research Initiation Awards, Distinguished Research Awards, Early Career Research Awards and the College nominations for graduate student awards. 

Nell Blair - Director of Development

The Director of Development provides guidance to the Dean regarding opportunities that enhance and grow the financial resources of the College. Working closely with the Dean and his Advisory Board, the Director focuses on providing College alumni and friends with the opportunity to connect with and support the College, its students, and its faculty through establishing scholarships, assistantships, and community partnerships.

Ms. Melissa Buchner - Director of Administration

The Director of Administration has responsibility for acting for and on behalf of the Dean serving as a liaison to the department chairs, division directors, administrative personnel, Board of Advisors members, students, etc. She also oversees College faculty and staff recruitment, and provides the Dean with information about pertinent laws, regulations and rules. She coordinates the College's Tenure and Promotion process each year and conducts special research projects for the Dean.

Ms. Lisa Eldin - Pre-professional Advisor

The Pre-professional Advisor has responsibility for advising students interested in careers in the health sciences and law and for assisting these students with their application to professional school. The Pre-professional Advisor is responsible for creating and maintaining programs and services that provide pre-professional students with in-depth information about professional school admissions requirements and an opportunity to interact with professional school admissions officials and practicing professionals.

Ms. Marijane Garrett - Local Support Provider III (LSP)

The LSP III provides technical support for the College of Arts & Sciences. This position is responsible for technical support to the following departments and offices: History, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work, Philosophy, Physics, Anthropology, English, Foreign Languages, Chucalissa, Geography, City Planning,  TOADS/Tadpole, MMCS, IMC, SUAPP, CURE/Uptown Resource Center, Air force ROTC,  Army ROTC, Naval Science, Foreign Languages, Deans Office

Mary Haddock - Secretary

The Secretary provides support services for the Dean and for the Special Assistant to the Dean.

Ms. Sharon Harber - Senior Administrative Secretary

The Secretary provides support services for the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research. 

Ms. Ardella Jeffries - Administrative Assistant I

The Administrative Assistant handles all accounting functions and provides support to faculty and students in Interdisciplinary Programs, the Marcus Orr Center for the Humanities and the Center for Research on Women.

Ms. Mary Jones - Graduation Analyst

The Graduation Analyst is assigned to the Undergraduate Advising Center and has responsibility for certifying undergraduate students for graduation.

Ms. Patsy Krech - College Advisor

The Coordinator of Undergraduate Student Services has responsibility for the supervision of the Advising Center, and for advising programs and services for undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Coordinator serves on the Provost's Advisory Council for Academic Advising, the Vice-Provost's Task Force on the Assessment of Academic Advising, the Planning Committee for Senior Day, and the Commission for Advising Administration for the National Academic Advising Association.

Dr. Henry Kurtz - Dean

The Dean has responsibility for administering the College of Arts and Sciences including the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy and the Departments of Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry, Criminology and Criminal Justice, English, Foreign Languages and Literatures, Geography, Geology, History, Mathematical Sciences, Microbiology and Molecular Cell Sciences, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. He also has responsibility for administering the Center for Earthquake Research (CERI), the Center for Research on Women (CROW), and the Marcus Orr Center for the Humanities (MOCH), and for administration of the University's Air Force, Army, and Navy ROTC Programs.

Ms. Hope Smith - Assistant Director, Interdisciplinary Studies

The Assistant Director, Interdisciplinary Studies coordinates the College's Interdisciplinary Programs including the Center for Research on Women, African/African-American Studies, and International Studies, and provides support services for the Marcus Orr Center for the Humanities.

Ms. Joyce Stevenson - Financial Services Associate

The Financial Services Associate provides support services for the Budget Manager and for the Assistant to the Dean. She is responsible for providing bookkeeping services and for Web maintenance.

Ms. Marcia Taylor - Budget Manager

The Budget Manager has responsibility for administering the College's financial affairs including developing and establishing budgetary processes for the College, preparing major operational and special budgets, and managing its expenditures. She is also the Dean's official designee in authorizing financial transactions on behalf of the College.

Dr. William Thompson - Assistant Dean for Undergraduate and Interdisciplinary Studies

The Assistant Dean for Undergraduate and Interdisciplinary Studies has responsibility for overseeing the development of undergraduate curriculum and student services, enrollment and grade distribution analysis, and recruitment into the College. He also serves as a College representative on the University Curriculum Committee, the General Education Committee, and the Provost's Advisory Council on Academic Advising. He supervises the College's Undergraduate Student Services Center as well as the Interdisciplinary Studies Center, which includes International Studies, African and African-American Studies, Women's Studies, Marcus Orr Center for Humanities and the Center for Research on Women.

Ms. Debra Turner - Web Specialist II

The Web Specialist II develops applications supporting the evaluations processes within the college, and designs and maintains the College of Arts and Sciences website and other sites within the college including several academic and research programs. Responsibilities also include design and publication of the college electronic bi-weekly newsletter, Efiles.

Ms. Cynthia Walker - Secretary

no photo available The Secretary provides support services for the Advising Center.

Ms. Deena Weiss - Administrative Associate I

The Administrative Associate provides support services for the Budget Officer. This position is also responsible for processing paperwork for part-time instruction and summer school in the College of Arts and Sciences.
