The Shelby-Memphis Council of Teachers of English (SMCTE) is the local affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), and Tennessee Council of Teachers of English (TCTE) is the state affiliate. Both have dues. The dues for SMCTE is $10 per year, and the dues for TCTE is $15 per year. Using the membership form that is linked below, English teachers can join one or, preferably, both organizations. We also encourage you to join NCTE. Belonging to your professional organizations is one way to demonstrate a professional commitment.
