Confucius Institute Will Offer Chinese Odyssey to High School Students The Confucius Institute at the University of Memphis, in conjunction with the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban), will offer the Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for American High School Students - in the People's Republic of China - this summer from July 13 through August 3. No Chinese language experience is necessary.? Students who are selected will be responsible for paying for their airfare, visa, and an administrative fee.? Expenses in China, including domestic transportation, room, board, and tuition, will be paid by the program. The application deadline is May 30. Through a combination of classroom study and excursions, participants will improve their language skills while experiencing China's culture, history, and traditions.? About 500 American high school students are expected to attend. The Confucius Institute is a non-profit, public institute with the goal of promoting Chinese language and culture and supporting local Chinese teaching internationally through affiliated Confucius Institutes around the globe. The University of Memphis is home to the only Confucius Institute in the state of Tennessee and the first in the Mid-South.
