THOMAS W. BRIGGS EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARD

The Briggs Foundation Award was established to recognize excellence in undergraduate teaching. It is named after the founder of Welcome Wagon International and is awarded annually. Former recipients of the award include:

Two awards, in the amount of $5,000 each, will be presented at the faculty convocation in April 2006. The award was established by the Thomas W. Briggs Foundation to recognize outstanding undergraduate teaching and an overall commitment to undergraduate education. Nomination deadline will be in February 2006. Previous award recipients are:

Award nominees must be full-time faculty members at the University of Memphis and must be currently teaching undergraduate courses. Tenure status is not required for nomination. Nomination forms may be obtained by calling the Marketing and Advancement Division at extension 4438.

As requested by the Thomas W. Briggs Foundation, the selection committee will be comprised of recent University of Memphis alumni, faculty, and a representative of the Briggs Foundation. The administration of the award is coordinated with the assistance of the Office of the Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.
